Located in Jim Thorpe, Asa Packer Mansion commemorates the accomplishments of railroad magnate, Pennsylvania and U.S. House of Representatives member, Carbon County judge, and Lehigh University founder Asa Packer. In the 1800s, its construction took 2 years and cost $14,000. It boasts 11,000 square feet of living space, spread out over 3 stories and 18 rooms.
Admission prices for Asa Packer Mansion range from $3.00 to $10.00 depending on age, with group tour rates available.
Before visiting the mansion, keep in mind that food, beverages, smoking, large bags and backpacks, and strollers are all prohibited in the mansion. As you embark on your tour, keep your cell phone and other electronic devices turned off and refrain from photography, filming, audio, and video recording during the tour. Above all, if you touch any of the artifacts or furnishings within the home, it will cause irreparable damage, so be cautious. The acids and oils on even the cleanest hands can still damage these centuries-old items.
Operational hours for the Asa Packer Mansion are from 11:00am – 4:00pm daily from Memorial Day until Halloween, and on weekends during April, May, November, and the first three weekends of December.
