When you visit the Poconos, whether it’s for the first time or the 1000th time, the first thing that strikes you is the sheer beauty of its natural landscape. With fields of green stretching out for miles in any direction, forests filled with tall and strong trees, paths leading to secret waterfalls, and the mountains standing guard in the background, this section of Pennsylvania is a piece of heaven, and getting out to explore its beauty will be the highlight of your getaway—especially when done from the back of a gentle steed! This guide to horseback riding in the Poconos will ensure that your experience is fun, safe, and memorable.
The Poconos covers a lot of land, so we’ll offer an example from a few different towns, starting with Cresco and the Mountain Creek Riding Stables. Located about 30 minutes from your Pocono Mountain Rentals Lake Harmony hideaway, these stables offer a variety of riding experiences, including group trail rides, private trail rides, and pony rides for the wee ones in your group. Also offering covered wagon rides in the summer and sleigh rides in the winter, costs can be as low as $20 per adult.
East Stroudsburg is where we are heading next with a visit to the Bushkill Riding Stables and a tour of the scenic Pocono Mountains. Closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, their guided trail rides begin at $40 and last about 45 minutes.
Located in White Haven, about 20 minutes from Lake Harmony, Deer Path Riding Stables is probably one of the closest to your Lake Harmony vacation home. Their guided horseback riding in the Poconos trail rides are designed to be fun for riders of most skill levels; experienced riders may get a little bored, but the scenery will definitely distract! Lasting an hour (15 minutes of training, 45 minutes of riding), Deer Path offers a $5 dollar discount for riders paying in cash. Credit cards will cost you $50 per rider.
Also located in White Haven, this sweet business is set on a private farm which is also a wildlife preserve. They offer family trail rides on horses or in a cart or carriage, wagon & sleigh rides, and of course, The Pony Trail. Your 4- through 10-year-olds will be thrilled to ride on a trail (hand led by a guide) and not be forced to ride in an endless circle as with many pony rides. Guests can visit with the other farm animals and have a picnic during their visit. This working farm loves having guests spend as much time with them as possible!
You can expect to be a little sore after your time on a horse, so coming home to soak in the hot tub of your Pocono Mountain Rentals vacation escape will definitely be something to look forward to after your ride. Reserve your stay with us today!
