The best places to eat in town aren’t always the ones with the highest prices. Sometimes the best meal can be that short stack of pancakes you’ve been craving or that thick and juicy burger served at the diner that has been around so long, none of the locals can remember the town without it. Murphy’s Loft is one such place, beginning life as a log cabin built in 1934 and then metamorphosizing into the stone building you see today back in 1946; its current incarnation as Murphy’s Loft began in the late 70s when it was purchased by new owners.
Located at 5102 PA-115 in Blakeslee
Stone buildings are commonplace in Pennsylvania, but if you have trouble finding this one, just ask around. Everyone in town has found themselves seated at a Murphy’s Loft wood table enjoying a beer and a burger more than a few times over the years! After a major renovation in the late 1990s, not much has changed at Murphy’s. Why mess with perfection? The cheerful décor and comfortable seating invite you to come on in and stay awhile, but it’s the delicious food and friendly staff that ensures you do!
The Menu
The only negative thing about Murphy’s Loft is that they only serve breakfast on weekends, so we have to wait five long days between visits to experience the wonders of their Filet Mignon Benedict or their Lumber Jacked meal that comes with your choice of waffle, French toast, or pancakes, plus two eggs, bacon or sausage, and home fries. We somehow manage to drown our sorrows, however, in the sheer deliciousness of their everyday lunch and dinner menu as we wait for the weekend to come around again. From the sampler appetizer with its dish loaded with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, and onion rings to their homemade chili and specialty salads to the shrimp scampi and build your own pizzas, they may not offer breakfast every day of the week, but their standard menu offers true solace! Don’t ask us what our favorite meals are because everything tastes absolutely perfect, but this week we are taking a shine to their Steak Del Mar, featuring an 8-ounce tenderloin and shrimp scampi. Perhaps next week our taste of the day will be a simple Fish and Chips meal; every day is different when you eat at Murphy’s Loft in the Poconos!
