Planning a Trip to Pocono Mountains on a Budget

Visiting Pocono Mountains on a budget can be a daunting task. The area, after all, has been a tourist destination for decades, which often means prices are higher for everything from accommodations to restaurants to all the different attractions. That, however, is not entirely true. You can still go to the Pocono Mountains and enjoy a great time without burning a hole in your pocket. In fact, there are fun attractions to enjoy which are either free or cost little money. We’ve made a list of some of the attractions that don’t cost much if anything for you to enjoy so you can visit the Poconos today!

Zane Grey Museum

Zane Grey was an American author best known for his adventure and Western novels. Between 1905 and 1918 he lived in this house, which after he died was turned into a museum to honor his life and legacy. Admission is free and you can stroll around the house in a self-guided tour that explores the life of this renowned author. If you have any questions, National Park Service rangers will be happy to answer them for you. Also, spend some time hiking around the museum to get a feel of what inspired the late writer during this creative period of his life. Visiting the Zane Grey museum is definitely a fun thing to do when you visit PA.

Main Street Farmers’ Market

There’s nothing like spending a few hours at a farmers’ market to come out carrying parcels of fresh produce at a fraction of the price you’d pay at the local supermarket. The market is open every Saturday between 11 am and 1 pm. Lots of fruit, vegetables, bread, and meat that will cut down the costs of your vacation and help you eat healthy meals at the same time.

Pocono Arts Council’s

Having taken care of your food, it’s time to explore arts and nurture your soul. The Pocono Arts Council’s gallery is open every week to the public. Between Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. Every month the gallery features a brand-new exhibit.

Country Junction

We know you can’t possibly visit the Poconos without getting up close and personal with some of the wildlife here. It’s probably the main reason you left the city and came up here. And we have a petting zoo that has alpacas, goats, turkeys, pigs, ducks, rabbits, and chickens. All of these animals are friendly and expect you to pet them, so don’t be shy, get closer and give them some love. It’s also free, so all this flowing love between you and the cute animals won’t cost you a cent.
