Situated within the Poconos region near the Delaware River and the border between Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Bushkill Falls refers both to a stunning set of waterfalls and the family-owned park of the same name. Touted as the “Niagara Falls of Pennsylvania,” these incredible waterfalls are truly a sight to behold. Find out more information below on what makes Bushkill Falls worth visiting during your vacation!
Pennsylvania’s Answer to Niagara Falls
Owned by the Charles E. Peters family, Bushkill Falls first opened to the public in 1904 with a swinging bridge and a single path over the head of the main falls. Now, Bushkill Falls offers visitors the chance to experience its 8 majestic waterfalls—including the main falls, which have a drop of 100 feet—over the course of 300 acres, encompassing two miles of walkways, bridges, and hiking trails. The total drop from the top of the main falls to the bottom of the lower gorge is 300 feet.
Admission fees to enter the park range from $8.50 for children ages 4 – 10 years to $14.50 – $16.50 for adults for weekday or weekend and holiday rates. Children under the age of 4 years are admitted for free. There are also individual activities that come with their own fees that cost between $0.50 and$20.00, such as mini golf, gemstone mining, fishing, and paddleboat rentals.
Group rates are also available, making a trip to Bushkill Falls an excellent option if you’re vacationing with a large group of family and friends. Additionally, pets are allowed in the park, provided they remain leashed at all times and are never left unattended.
Bushkill Falls has varying hours depending on the season, weather, and day of the week. The park normally opens at 9:00am and closes anywhere from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, so plan accordingly. The park is closed from December through March.
